Hey guys, I have noticed there are many people who are trying to advance their rank in order to get better rewards such as the fabled skill catfish at the 500 mark. In order to actually get there you need to understand War Patterns and sub stats. This is going to be rather lengthy and I am going to give you many examples of good and bad War patterns to keep and use in order to help you advance to the next level and obtain that legendary fish.
Understanding the Basics
There are a total of 6 slots on a partner for gear, the left hand, helm, right hand, chest piece, left leg, and right leg. Each have their own specific stats and it's important to understand what you can and cannot get as main stats on a War Pattern.
Left Hand Main Bonus: SPEED, ATK, ATK%, DEF, DEF%, HP, HP%
Substats are random and can have any attribute. They can not be the same as the main stat.
Helm Main Bonus: CR, CRD, ATK, ATK%, DEF, DEF%, HP, HP%
Substats are random and can have any attribute. They can not be the same as the main stat.
Right Hand Main Bonus: HITS, RES, ATK, ATK%, DEF, DEF%, HP, HP%
Substats are random and can have any attribute. They can not be the same as the main stat.
Chest Main Bonus: ATK
Substats are random and can have any attribute. They can not be the same as the main stat.
Left Leg Main Bonus: DEF
Substats are random and can have any attribute. They can not be the same as the main stat.
Right Leg Main Bonus: HP
Substats are random and can have any attribute. They can not be the same as the main stat.
When it comes to War Pattern quality, you NEVER want to keep anything white (common) or less than 5 stars (War Patterns have 5 grades, 1-5, 5 is the best). If you want to improve your rank you need to set a standard, and a rather high one. I recommend using mine as a starting point.
There are 5 rarities of War Patterns,
White: common
Green: Rage
Blue: Magic
Gold: Epic
Purple: Legendary
The 2 Vital Rules
Rule #1: Do not keep anything less than a Green (magic) pattern. Common war patters are trash, no matter what the main stat is. Do NOT be tempted to level a common pattern, it's not worth it.
Rule #2: NEVER under any circumstance keep a war pattern less than a 5 star. I know a common question people have and I'm going to answer it right now, is it worth it to keep a 4 star Epic piece? No, never. Anything less than 5 stars is shit. Sell it and use the soul to increase a better pattern. Here are examples of what to keep and what to sell.

Level up guide
Patterns get new subs at difference levels, up to 4, these occur on levels 3, 6, 9, and 12, however, the max level is 15. While you level up your patterns, I recommend only maxing the Left Hand, Head, and Right hand, the Chest and bilateral legs can stop at 12. The reason for this is the main stats on the chest and bottom do not increase much to be worth the hundreds of thousands of soul to max them. The Head and Hands are the only ones which have real benefit to level to 15. The reason for this is with a % stat, a few is actually a lot. Lets use HP as an example and compare a LVL 12 with a LVL 15 on a Blue Nomad King.
At lvl 40, and Awakened level 3, the Blue Nomad King has a base life of 13,440. At level 12 the HP% bonus is 37% and at level 15 it's 51%.

Why is % always better? Here are the calculations:
The Nomad King's life is 13,440 and the increase is 37%. 13,440*37%= 4,972.8. This gives a total HP bonus of 4,972.8. If we max the pattern, it's 13,440 at 51% or 13,440*51%= 6,854.4. So compared to the extremely low increase of the regular +HP, the benefit of HP% in this case is 1,881.6 extra life for leveling one piece from 12 to 15. The same is true for ALL % stats.
Finally, one last note. Every now and then they will give us the opportunity to buy war patterns with soul. Don't buy them, it's a trap. They are a waste of soul. In the pictures below the only thing worth buying is the 5* Gold Cat piece, and the stats are a gamble. I hope this guide helped. Good luck improving!
